This is the fourth part from a serie of short posts on Five Common Weight Loss Myths.

Myth #5: Milk-based products can make you fat and cause heart problems

Fact: Milk-based, or also known as diary products, are the point of supply for calcuim which is an essential substance for your bones. It is absolutely necessary that diary products are part of a children’s menu and must not be overlooked by adults, too.

Of course, thanks to modern medicine, we all know that eating a lot of diary products is a sure way to get high blood pressure and stroke.

However, to each rule there is an exception. A good example are people from France who eat large quantities with their wine and stay in good health for life.

As for the “fat” part of the myth – you can always choose low-fat or non-fat brands if you don’t want to gain weight from diary products.

And if you are lactose-intolerant, move on to soy or rice milk. The taste is not the same, but it is still good and nutritious.

Actually the only milk-based products you should worry about are *butter and margarine*. They containg high levels of fat.

Margarine is a pre-processed fat that isn’t too good for you.

Butter might be with higher fat levels, but is certainly more healthier than margarine.

So, if you can’t do without such products, stick with butter.
